This web design work is a proposed website for the Guangdong Provincial Museum and is my third-year undergraduate web design course work.
It is the result of pair work, where I was responsible for the 3D modelling, the design of the level interface and layout and the overall visual presentation (the other student was responsible for the logo design and the photographic content). I also researched the difficulties that users experienced with the existing website for the museum. My particular innovation was the use of the 3D model of an ivory ball, a popularly cultural relic at the museum, as a navigation tool. The conventional flat first-level interface was changed into a 3D model of the ivory ball, making it more interactive for the audience. Similarly, the secondary interface layer is transformed into an interactive view mode, which significantly simplifies the complicated pattern on the original website, thus making it easier for viewers to browse content.
